Technical support on FS Heincke – Test #13

On February 17th and 18th we successfully participated for the 13th time in a test cruise of FS Heincke.
The FS Heincke is an AWI research vessel with an extensive range of scientific echo sounders. It has multibeam echo sounders for bathymetric surveys, acoustic current meters (ADCP) and multi-frequency sounders.
On behalf of the AWI, we look after a number of these systems, which means that we take care of maintenance, servicing, user training and user support.

We look after the following systems on FS Heincke:

  •     Multibeam echo sounder Kongsberg EM712
  •     Innomar SES2000 sub-bottom echo sounder
  •     Current meter ADCP RDI Workhorse Mariner 600 kHz
  •     Current meter ADCP RDI Ocean Surveyor 150 kHz
  •     SV probe Valeport Midas
  •     Flow-through systems for the determination of temperature, salinity and chlorophyll content

All devices and systems work perfectly after some updates have been installed.

Since this year, we have been using a wreck for the calibration of the multibeam echo sounder, which can be clearly seen in the picture. At night, we had the opportunity to admire a very beautiful and clear starry sky near Heligoland.

We provide user training for scientists. If required, please contact us to arrange an appointment.
